Ayr is a freshwater and estuarine fish, Pama pama, primarily imported to the UK from Bangladesh. A member of the croaker family, it features firm, white flesh and a mild flavor. Usually sold frozen, it is a significant protein source in South Asian cuisine, often prepared in traditional curries.
